THE BREXIT PARTY
A company called The Brexit Party Limited was incorporated with Companies House on 23rd of November 2018, with the party being formally announced on the 20th of January 2019. The Brexit Party is, at its core, a Eurosceptic party, and was founded with the primary goal of delivering Brexit - with the UK withdrawing from the EU on the 31st of January 2020 its primary goal has been achieved. While the party has been hard to pin down ideologically due to it being founded on a single issue it has been described as having its foundations in classical liberalism and Thatcherism. In October 2020 it was announced that Nigel Farage had applied to the Electoral Commission to re-register the Brexit Party as Reform UK. The party’s current platform is one of promoting the Proportional Representation electoral system, an anti-lockdown response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the abolition of the House of Lords, the introduction of Citizens Initiatives and an overall reduction in immigration. They aim to achieve these aims through policies such as:
Promote the Great Barrington Declaration (a COVID-19 response that has been implemented in Sweden)
Abolish interest rates on student loans
Make MP’s who switch parties subject to recall petitions
Abolish inheritance tax
