
PLAID CYMRU
Plaid Cymru - The Party of Wales (Plaid) was formed in 1925 and is a Welsh nationalist party. The party is seen as a centre-left to left-wing, and state five key aims in their constitution: An independent Wales within Europe; ensure economic prosperity, social justice and the health of the natural environment, based on decentralist socialism; build a national community based on equal citizenship; create a bilingual society by promoting the revival of the Welsh language; and to promote Wales’ contribution to the global community and to attain membership of the United Nations. They aim to achieve these aims through policies such as:
Devolved taxation powers: corporation tax, air passenger duty and VAT for Wales
Oppose the development of new sites for nuclear power plants
Free social care at the point of need
Reach one million Welsh speakers by 2050
